The Fiftieth Wadebridge Festival is at the end of this month.I was at the first one along with my then singing partner.I can't remember the whole line up, but it included Headington Quarry,Brenda Wooton/John The Fish,Martyn Wyndham Read,Charlie Bate.It was a fabulous weekend, full of internal political wrangling and shenanigans.
There was a sort of fringe at The Molesworth,run by a certain local celebrity.We had been added to the bill of the Saturday night concert in the town hall, with no cash changing hands.
Aforementioned local celebrity offered us good money to boycott the town hall and do his evening instead.Some of the organisers had some issue or other with the great Charlie Bate,an icon of Cornish traditional music and shunned him.Some of the artists, notably including Brenda,refused to perform unless he was included.
