Subject: Lyr Add: Battle of New Oil Lease From: voyager Date: 05 Mar 26 - 01:49 PM just a snippet here from a 1970s lyric I wrote. The lyrics are a bit dusty and the geo-politico roulette wheel has changed. Even so, the basic sentiment persists Battle of New Oil-Lease (to the tune of 8th of January). Chorus Iran through the cameras and Iran through the papaers Iran through the White House where the oil money flows Iran so bad our army couldn't touch them They grabbed our radar bases in the Gulf of Texaco. Verse Early in the winter, year of '79 Some students in Iran well they put it on the line In a fight for independence they took our embassy Shouting out the slogans of Ayatollah Khomeni With Americans as hostages they bargained for the Shah A rich exiled dictator who had broke their Muslim Law They said he owed them money, was a traitor and a beast And in the name of freedom they upset the Middle East As we move into the '80s, there's still no end in sight While Muslims beat themselves with chains they'rs spoiling for a fight Ayatollah wants it his way but Carter disagrees And people everywhere are talking WWIII. Note - it wouldn't be hard to tweak the lyrics to fit the sh*t storm we have today. 'Ain't going to study war n more' voyager |
