Subject: Camp Quitcherbellyachin From: GUEST,BikeChiRoc Date: 05 Jul 26 - 04:59 PM This song popped into my head last week. I don't know what made me remember it. I would have learned it around 1975. All I remember is the chorus: Camp Quitcherbellachin we love you Hail to our colors black and blue Our heads are filled with Indian (sic) lore as o'er the fields we roam Oh I love camp with all my heart Hey Mom please take me home! I have searched and filtered here at Mudcat, and Duckduckgo and nothing comes up. It absolutely might have had a different spelling--Kamp Kwicher etc--but there would be too many variations to be an effective search. Apologies for the racist term. I know it’s an ongoing discussion in Mudcat. I would have replaced it with something like “camping lore” but I included it here because that’s what we sang, so that’s what I searched. I don’t want to make this discussion *about* replacing racist lyrics but I’d be interested in any alternatives! |
