Feis Bhostoin-The Boston Scottish Gaelic Festival April 28th - 30th, 2000 A unique festival celebrating Scottish/Cape Breton cultural heritage is being held in the Boston area on the weekend of April 28th, 2000 and we would appreciate your support in spreading the word to other interested parties. It will feature classes and concerts by several of Cape Breton's finest dancers, Highland pipers, fiddlers and Gaelic singers.
Feis Bhostoin will begin with a gala concert on Friday April 28th in which these performers will demonstrate the strength andvitality of Cape Breton's wonderful Gaelic musical heritage. The Feis will continue with workshops all day Saturday, to be finished by a ceilidh, open to the public (audience participation will be encouraged).
A further day of workshops on Sunday will be rounded off by a final ceilidh at which Feis participants are encouraged to perform the material they havelearnt. At this time confirmed instructors include leading tradition bearers and musical virtuosos Barry Shears (pipes), John Campbell (fiddle), Seumas Watson (song) and Christine Morrison (Step Dancing).
Besides step dancing, dance style Highland Piping and Cape Breton fiddle a variety of classes focusing on Gaelic song will betaught. Each class will focus on a separate strand of the Gaelic song tradition(i.e. work songs, humorous songs, puirt-a-beul etc.) An event like this in Boston, an area where many Cape Breton Gaels emmigrated, is long overdue and we appreciate your help in spreading the word.
All concerts and workshops to be held at: Arlington Catholic High School, 16 Medford St, Arlington MA 02474
