Hi...I have been away from this site for a LONG time but thought I'd best get back! Greetings to Rick...I've not seen you in a long while. Congrats on the Mariposa gig. I want to let you and any others interested know about an upcoming gig that Leah Salomaa, my 'kid', is having. It is a CD release concert on Toronto's Centre Island at Church of St Andrew- by- the- Lake , taking place on Sunday July 23 at 2pm. Admission is $6. The CD is CELTIC TRIO and contains her arrangements of many trad, numbers like Waly Waly, No Courage in Him, Children Go Where I Send Thee, Mairi's Wedding, and Red is the Rose ....and more.CDs will be available for $15. She has done all this independently with Jason Fowler, guitar, Ron Korb flute, Darcy Stamp , fiddle. She gives me a dedication ...for having sung some of these songs to her in her childhood( ahhhhh) It is great to hear younger people singing the old songs in their own way. Both Leah and I have had the privelege in the past of being guests on Rick's radio show. She and I used to sing together and have since gone different ways and Leah is performng in clubs and festivals in the Toronto area. We did get together and sang for the Fat Albert's benefit a while back. Anyway.....you are all welcome to enjoy the intimacy of the venue and the atmosphere of the island on July 23 if you can come. I am certain you will enjoy it.
