I'm hoping to toss in my own little search with the broader question of what recently has been a dollar well spent on music, why and in what vein? I really can't spend a lot on music lately, and need advice.

My own search lately is for bouncy energetic fiddle tunes and other dances I can play on racked harmonica with guitar. I'm really enjoying it as a new area of interest, writing a few of my own bits. I learned the tune from Last of the Mohicans, which I find from old threads is a Dougie MacLean reel, and some other things, In The Mood is fun to do--had some Mudcat help with that. And Bob Dylans Basement tune Santa Fe makes a senselessly happy bouncy dance thing, too. Any suggestions from other people who play dances would help. I bought a S. Grossman book of celtic tunes for guitar, and they're quite nice, but in an airy and lyrical vein, not so thumpy as I'm currently questing for. I was hoping for more like a Tom Long arrangement I learned from Fingerstyle magazine. Hardiman the fiddler/cue--something I better not try to spell without looking.

Been sifting the mudcat midis a bit. Any tips?

I would love to buy the mudcat set, but need to get to the other side of my disastrous taxes. I may buy one or two first, then the set later, and give the dupes as gifts. Any I should start with?
