Subject: Lyr Req: Balshazzar or Belshazzar From: GUEST,Joe_F Date: 21 May 05 - 08:43 AM In the early 1950s I used to hear a song called "Balshazzar" (not the one in http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=51818), which retold Daniel 5 (inaccurately) with an allusion to Hitler: Now King Balshazzar took delight in Starting wars and doing fighting. The sons of Israel he called scamps, And he sent them off to work in concentration camps. CHORUS: Mene, mene, tekel, tekel, tekel, Mene, mene, tekel upharsin. Does anyone know the rest of it & where it came from? It had a jazz tune. --- Joe Fineman joe_f@verizon.net ||: Reason will conflict with faith so long as respect for evidence conflicts with contempt for evidence. :|| |
