I'm forwarding an annoucement for a concert by Slaveya, a woman's vocal group in the Washington DC area. I have heard them several times, and they're really good. We can even dance after the concert.
Slaveya, the Washington-area women's Balkan vocal group directed by Tatiana Sarbinska, winner of the 2004 Wammie for World Music Vocalist, celebrates 20 years of singing traditional East European music with a concert featuring Bulgarian village and dance songs, as well as choral works made famous by the "Mystere des voix bulgares" recordings. Please join Slaveya on Saturday, June 18, 8:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring, 10309 New Hampshire Ave. A reception and informal dance party will follow the concert.
