For those of you in London, a chance to see Rosie Doonan and Ben Murray, nominees for the 'Horizon award' at this year's Radio 2 Folk Awards, this Thursday (5th January) at Islington Folk Club at the Horse Shoe on Clerkenwell Road from 8pm.
Ben and Rosie's entirely fresh approach to traditional song brings a very contemporary flavour to their arrangements, which at the same time confirms and underlines the timeless nature of the stories and the emotions expressed. Their own songs, framed by their solid musicianship and the clarity of their harmony singing, are equally seductive and aimed straight at the heart.
