Subject: meaning of verse in Delaney's Child #12 From: Roberto Date: 24 Dec 06 - 08:33 AM From Mary Delaney's BURIED IN KILKENNY (F. J. Child #12). The last verse says: "Put a stone to my head and a scra to my feet". The notes say a scra is a lump of turf. What is the meaning of putting a lump of turf to the feet of a dead man, in his grave? Thanks. R |
