The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club and the Fair Lawn Community Center will present acclaimed singer-songwriter David Mallett with special guest Joe Jencks at 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Fair Lawn Community Center.

David Mallett performs traditional folk songs, ballads, and love songs as well as his own compositions such as The Garden Song, Summer of My Dreams, and Red Red Rose. His songs have been sung and recorded by well-known artists throughout the world including Emmy Lou Harris, Alison Krauss, Pete Seeger and even the Muppets.

This summer David released a new CD - "The Fable True" - a spoken word and instrumental celebration of Henry David Thoreau's excursions to Maine. Utilizing over 20 excerpts from Thoreau's The Maine Woods, the album commemorates the 150th anniversary of Thoreau's final excursion to Maine in 1857.

Opening the evening will be singer-songwriter Joe Jencks. Jencks is conservatory trained and has a warm, smooth powerful voice. Many of his songs are about working people and social consciousness in the tradition of Pete Seeger.

The Fair Lawn Community Center is located at 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, NJ.

Ticket prices are $25, $22 for Hurdy Gurdy members. Tickets can be ordered online and additional information is available at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org
or by calling (201) 384-1325. Tickets can also be purchased at Brier Rose Books, 450 Cedar Lane, Teaneck, NJ.

The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club is a volunteer run, not for profit corporation, dedicated to promoting acoustic music in Bergen County.

That sounds like an enjoyable evening, Ron. I hope there is a full house. Dave always puts on a wonderful concert, and Joe Jencks appears to be a good addition.

Deb - I would bet you know at least one of David's songs - "The Garden Song", also referred to as "Inch By Inch".

Thanks for the note!

ahhhh, that I do, Ron.

Please give Joe my very best. Not sure when I'll see you again, as I won't be at NERFA and my New Jersey travels take me south of you this time 'round.

Oh yes, cdongratulations on the new studio...the old one was pretty nice compared to some I have seen...

Good luck,

Sitting in my new semi-corporate office when all of a sudden I hear Dave Mallet singing The Garden Song. Reassuring at the least. The Sales Manager is a fan.
Enjoy.

Tonight is the night!   Not a pleasant day in terms of local weather, but the theater will be nice and cozy - warm and dry! The music will surely brighten up the night!

If any Mudcatters can make it, please be sure to say hello!
