The Arts Council run a website called Take It Away, apparently for the encouragement of people who want to learn an instrument, and someone's made a video at the 2008 Gainsborough Festival in February, with commentary by foaotmad member Carole Finer on her experiences of learning to frail a five-string banjo. You can see it here. It gives you a good idea of the atmosphere at the festival and what Old Time sessioning's all about.
Cheers
Ray

It's got a few different names. We usually call it Fly Around My Pretty Little Miss, but it's also known as Susananna Gal in the Round Peak area, and also Western Country.
Cheers
Ray

BanjoRay,

Thanks for putting up the video, Susette and I watched and enjoyed it. Quite well done, it seems to me.

Shame it didn't have a shot of Claire dancing, though...

best
chance

I think Claire would probably be pleased - she's a little camera shy!

Ah, well, I have a vivid picture in my mind of Claire and the other dancers on Saturday at Gainsborough, that will do.

best to all
