Subject: George Henderson's USA visit From: Big Mick Date: 05 Jun 99 - 01:12 AM On Wednesday night last, I drove over to Windsor to have dinner with George Henderson, a fellow Mudcatter and one of the members of the Negagh Singers Circle. What a joy to meet a fellow 'Catter from across the sea and get to know him in person. I must tell you that they were lovely people and I absolutely enjoyed the time I had to spend with them. I believe we have begun a lifelong friendship. If any of you have a chance to meet them on this trip, I would strongly encourage it. The only regret I have is that we did not have a chance to share a song. I am a little hoarse and I have a weekend full of music to make with my band, so I had to take it easy. All the best, Big Mick |

Subject: RE: George Henderson's USA visit From: Big Mick Date: 05 Jun 99 - 01:09 PM Hi Buddy, We didn't get into a discussion of food types, must be the only thing we didn't talk about. I don't think you could go wrong with anything. George and Joyce are lovely people, and it will be about the conversation more than anything with them. Mick |

Subject: RE: George Henderson's USA visit From: Liam's Brother Date: 05 Jun 99 - 05:39 PM Hi Rick! George and Joyce live in Ireland so they're not very fussy about food. Lead them to something wholesome and you'll hear no complaints. George LOVES traditional song. As you probably gathered, he would love to sing himself while he's over. I recall that there are in Toronto at least 2 pubs with 50+ or 100+ beers on tap. That is probably something George has yet to experience. Joyce could have a problem with steps. Please give George best regards from my wife and me and the same to you. Dan |

Subject: RE: George Henderson's USA visit From: Frank McGrath Date: 10 Jun 99 - 02:12 PM Wherever the Hendersons are please give them my best. When it comes to food they are game and fish lovers. So if it's been recently caught or shot they'll be two happy diners. Other than that, as long as it is dead and cooked they'll eat and enjoy - it's the company and conversation that is more important. Frank |
