"Traditional Music in Ireland" by Tomas O'Canainn (1993)' ISBN 0-946005-73-7, Ossian Publications Ltd, P.O. Box 84, Cork, Ireland, has a good section on sean nos singing. It's written at a level that an interested layman can grasp without fear of permanently scrunching up your face.
