[from Wee Skribbles on FB]

So… apparently World Cup officials in the US will eject any fans chanting songs they deem to be “offensive” from stadiums during the upcoming competition.

And, as expected by literally everyone everywhere, the Scots are once again certainly rising to the occasion.

One of the best so far, has been penned by
@One_Mrs_k, and goes to the tune of “Donald Where’s Your Troosers”…

?? Let the stink rise high
Let the stain run low
Doon his legs, the muck will flow
All the lassies shout Hello
Donald's shit his troosers!??

#DonaldsShitHisTroosers

Impossible to enforce!

A stadium of 80k
4k are singing

Sincerely,

Not a song as such, just a poem, but it says it all…

‘Stepped on an ankle’

By Erik C Petterson

Got a red card?
Banned from the game?
Stepped on an ankle,
Is your claim to fame?

A faux Peace Prize leader,
who wrote the Art of the Deal,
he's negotiating your freedom,
going to make an appeal.

He's deeply loved by FIFA,
Adored by Infantino.
and if he asks for a favor,
Jesus will turn water into Vino.

So you stepped on an ankle?
You're banned from a game?
Tell Donald Trump,
and he'll switch around the blame.

Tell the Old Grifter,
Let him advocate for you.
That red card will be lifted,
He'll make your dreams come true.

Well you're back in the game,
Belgium is waiting on their chance
Now Its all up to you,
So dont shit your pants.

Belgium scored four goals,
and your team scored only one.
You lost ankle stepper!
And your advocate's a BUM!

Or, for the older members:

"Dressed in red white and blue,
World Cup Willie
We all love him too
World Cup Willie
He's tough as a lion,
And never will give up.
That's why Willie is favourite for the cup!"

Probably suitable for this thread, as any song with a chorus which seems to start with "Willy, willy . . ." is sure to get taken up by the crowds.

However, I was never sure about the later World Cup song, which always sounded like an Adidas advert:
"Three lines on our shirt"!

I was amused by the article in the Washington Post the other day noting how the US team has adopted "Country Roads". Of course the article had several quotes and reminiscences from Bill Danoff.
