Subject: RE: BS: Anne Morrow Lindbergh has passed From: mousethief Date: 08 Feb 01 - 02:03 PM Here's something I'd like cleared up about AML: We know her husband was a Nazi sympathiser in the days leading up to WW2. How did AML feel about this? Alex |

Subject: RE: BS: Anne Morrow Lindbergh has passed From: wdyat12 Date: 09 Feb 01 - 09:16 AM I always loved her book too. Anne must have been an inspiration to my all time favorite woman Rachel Carson. wdyat12 |
Subject: RE: BS: Anne Morrow Lindbergh has passed From: Irish sergeant Date: 09 Feb 01 - 05:28 PM The poor lady saw more that her fair share of tragedy. I believe that Mr. Lindbergh's politic were reprehensible but that is in the past. He's been dead since the 1970's. AML, fair winds and following seas as you traverse the uncharted sea we all must follow someday. May your next life be far more peaceful than this one. Kindest reguards, Neil |
Subject: RE: BS: Anne Morrow Lindbergh has passed From: GUEST,Wavestar Date: 09 Feb 01 - 05:31 PM I gave that book just this spring as a gift to my best friend home in Vermont - I never even knew she lived in the state. A great sorrow. -J |
Subject: RE: BS: Anne Morrow Lindbergh has passed From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 09 Feb 01 - 07:57 PM The conviction and execution of Robert Helpmann was in my book state murder. I have always assumed that both AML and her husband must have been party to the lie, since the crime seems so obviously to have been rooted within the Lindberg household. Flirtation with the nazis was quite widespread, extending to members of the British royal family and many right-wing capitalists on both sides of the Atlantic. Even allowing for that, Lindberg seems to have been a deeply unpleasant individual. I would consider AML guilty by association except that from what little I've read about her I have just assumed she was wholly under Charles' spell. |
