Well, there's a recording of it by a woman - who is she! Where do I find it?

I guess THIS is a song clip of the one you are talking about. It's a band called Montana Rose, with what sounds like a girl singer. Lyrics below.

That clip is the chorus... the verse starts out as you indicated... see I posted the words... it is listed at their site as being by Kevin Welch...

PS, there are also about eight million rap or hip-hop songs by this title, or with the title you gave as one of its phrases. I quit looking at them all after about 12 Google-search pages. So maybe you want to do a Google search and start after about the tenth page to catch any I missed.

When I also looked at Cowpie I didn't find that either version there indicated anyone other than Kevin Welch as the artist who recorded it. So... if you can think of any other way to search for it, please come back and tell us what you find.

The one with the words you give - born independent ect - is the correct one, WYSIWYG, it's just the *sound clip* that doesn't work - it brings up another song.

Hm, not when I click it. Using both Explorer and Netscape. Goes straight to the chorus. Someone else check it please?
