Didn't know how to change the title of a resurrected thread, (original had Oct 2004 date in it) so I've started a new one...just for today!

There's another acoustic evening tonight Monday 17/1/5 at Lincoln's Drill Hall (central location, newly tarted up venue,entrance and car park next door on Free School Lane, next door to Library) and word has it that a new folk combo (styled "Na Buachaillí Báire") comprising my humble self and the world-renowned Gaucho will be appearing, albeit briefly (I expect!)
If you miss it, you can catch us at Market Rasen Folk Club next week... good luck with the pronunciation Villan!!)

No - it means The Playboys - a pun in English (though not in Irish) on "playing" music and "playing" lifestyles!
Also designed to tie Villan's tongue in knots.
BTW anybody know who we are supporting on the night? Villan - are you going to post an ad on Mudcat in due course?

Sorry, Daithi - I'm sure I've been told that 'Buchaille' is Gaelic for 'Shepherd' or 'Herdsman' (as in 'Buchaille Etive Mor' - The Great Shepherd/Herdsman of Etive). Just made the link that way - my wierd thought processes!

I think the sheep connection must be Scots Gaelic - sheep in Irish is caor, and shepherd is aoire.
Cowboy is buachaill bó and ag buaichailleacht maenas "to herd cattle" so they are easily confused. (Much like meself!)
