Subject: Tune Req: I Will Go From: samirich Date: 28 Dec 05 - 10:09 PM This song was Translated and adapted from an old Gaelic poem by the late Scottish actor and singer Roddy McMillan. Can some one provide a source for the poem and for the tune that He put these words with? Chorus I will go, I will go When the fighting is over Tae the land o' MacLeod That I left to be a soldier I will go, I will go When the King's son came along And called us all together Sayin' Brave Highland men Will you fight for my father? I will go, I will go. and another 4 verses Thanks for any help |

You can find them easily through the really quite good onsite search engine, which you will find (labelled "Lyrics and Knowledge Search") at the top of every single page here. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: I Will Go From: GUEST,chip2447 Date: 29 Dec 05 - 02:27 PM I have an MP3 of it as performed by Wild Mountain Thyme, PM me an email address and I'll send it. I Will Go Chorus:I will go, I will go when the fighting was over To the land of McLeod That I left to be a soldier, I will go, I will go. The King's son came along He called us together Syaing "Brave Highland men Will ye fight for me father"? I will go, I will go. I've a buckle ta my belt And a sword in my scabbard A red coat on me back And a shilling in me pocket I will go, I will go When they loaded us on board The lasses were singing But tears came running down When they heard bells a ringing I will go, I will go When we landed on the shore And saw the foreign heather We knew that some would fall And would remain there for ever I will go, I will go |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: I Will Go From: samirich Date: 30 Dec 05 - 07:26 PM My pleasure. I tried to find these tunes the week of Christmas and had no luck, then of course with the good assistance of these ablebodied people, I have found what you have just mentioned. I would still like to find a lead sheet with the chords, but hey Christmas is still another 8 days. There may be hope yet. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: I Will Go From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 13 Jan 06 - 09:47 PM Recordings of the song are two-a-penny. Now that he has the background information, "samirich" just wants guitar chords written out; perhaps with staff notation, if that is what a "lead sheet" is. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: I Will Go From: samirich Date: 14 Jan 06 - 09:43 PM Malcolm: That is precisely what a lead sheet is. Pretty simple isn't it?Thanks for your help. |
