Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: GUEST,cuckoo Date: 27 Feb 08 - 05:24 AM never been before whars the campsite like? |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: gnomad Date: 27 Feb 08 - 06:28 AM The opening post link takes you to the festival website, there is a link there to multimap for the campsite at the Community College, but it doesn't leap out at you. If you click here you will get to it. Campsite is a school playing field, pretty flat & secure with school facilities used for washing etc. No electric hookups. It seems to be very popular each year, though naturally spring camping near the North Yorkshire coast has its risks. |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: GUEST,Ammonite001 Date: 28 Feb 08 - 11:06 AM Hello there, Ime a Whitbyite and many folk-goers will know me, am just about to venture into the B&B business, and am hoping to be up and running before too long, situated on Stakesby Road the little guest house will be called "Assam House" and as of tomorow 29th Feb the guest house should be on the "I know yorkshire" website. The flat Ime moving out of on the West Cliff will also be up for grabs if anyone wants to do self catering - close to Pannet Guest House ( many people will know Alan from the Pannet ) I hope I dont get into trouble for advertising ( is it allowed ? ) My credentials: a friend of Malcolm Storey ( that should do it ), I know many people who attend both festivals, made a lot of friends over the years. assamhouse@hotmail.co.uk |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: Lowden Jameswright Date: 15 Apr 08 - 10:53 AM "Never been but heard a lot about Whitby, is it any good as a festival venue? What makes it so special? " The answer to this question would require a book the size of War and Peace; just go there and experience it for yourself this coming August, or for a mini version - the end of this month |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: Les from Hull Date: 15 Apr 08 - 11:38 AM The Foaotmad event has always knocked heads with Moor and Coast being on the same weekend and fairly adjacent. Some people do try to get a bit of each. |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: BanjoRay Date: 15 Apr 08 - 06:37 PM I only mentioned Sewerby because the Moor and Coast website has it ending on Sunday, while Sewerby goes on into Monday. Sorry I upset you, Guest Blackbeard. Ray |
Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: Raggytash Date: 16 Apr 08 - 04:02 AM FiFo Whitby has a rich and varied history, is still in small part a working fishing port, has many attractions for tourists and its location is second to none, nestled in a steep valley heading out to sea and surrounded by heather covered moors. Nearby are numerous tiny villages which again have a rich seafaring history, fishing, smuggling, ghosts and ghoullies. Come and see for yourself. In particular I'd recommend the lunchtime concert at the Coliseum which is next to the bus station Saturday line-up MC Ken Hall Tina Taylor George Papaveris Flossie Cloud Street Sunday line-up MC Jim McDonald Annapurna Indian Dance Whitby Community Choir Workshy Profits Tina Taylor Hall Brothers Raggy |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: GUEST,Dan in Nova Scotia Date: 17 Apr 08 - 12:41 PM Wish I could be there. Oh well, perhaps I'll make a small trip up to Whitby when I have a few days off this September. I'll miss the music but I'm sure there's lots to do when one isn't rushing off to a stage somewhere. Have fun folks. Cheers, Dan |

Subject: RE: Moor & Coast Festival - Whitby, 2008 From: GUEST,aelfleda Date: 18 Apr 08 - 03:45 AM OK enough about my singing - here's the serious bit (for me). As most of you know, I organise the stewards for Moor & Coast & have just had a couple of stewards drop out. If anyone's interested in stewarding, could you PM me please? Duties total around 8 hours over the weekend, you get a free weekend/camping ticket & you might get a present as well! How can you refuse?? Thanks Jude |
