Put on your TACO hat Veto his coup d'état We won’t support an autocrat We don’t do kings God save us from the King We won’t be worshiping We don’t do kings See every single state Spurn his parade of hate That’s how the people demonstrate We don’t do kings |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Songs of the Yorkshire Yankee From: YorkshireYankee Date: 24 Feb 26 - 01:44 AM I've realised I never got around to posting this song here. I wrote it for a fabulous concert in Sheffield I was invited to sing at called "Folk the Patriarchy" — in honour of International Women's Day. It's a song about a special kind of freedom... Very rough recording available on SoundCloud Freedom! ©Vikki Appleton Fielden, March 2020 It’s been a long day; I’m finally home I know just what I want when I walk through the door It’s such a small thing but it does make me moan Though it’s nothing to do with my fab pelvic floor And truly a pleasure I crave and ado-ore, oh Freedom! (Freedom!) Freedom! (Freedom!) I took off my bra and I freed’em! (Freedom!) Oh, the relief when there’s nowt underneath There’s nothing compares when you’ve freed’em! There’s a sad little secret most women don’t tell But all the day long, we shift and we twitch We try to ignore as our bosoms rebel In the lacy containers that pinch and restrain us Can’t wait to get home, so you’d best not detain us, oh Chorus I’ve been to the specialty stores now and then Let M&S* measure my girth and my cup Despite seeing “experts” again and again Still somehow the numbers do not quite add up So my “authorised” size is revised in each sho-op, oh Chorus I pray for the day when we’re finally free And comfortable clothes are not viewed with disdain When all of society simply agrees To let suits and ties wane and let sisters regain Their freedom from high heels and bras without sha-ame, oh Freedom! (Freedom!) Freedom! (Freedom!) I took off my bra and I freed’em! (Freedom!) Oh, the relief when there’s nowt underneath There’s nothing compares when you’ve… Freedom! (Freedom!) Freedom! (Freedom!) I took off my bra and I freed’em! (Freedom!) Oh, the relief when there’s nowt underneath There’s nothing compares when you’ve freed’em! (Freedom!) *Non-Brits might not know that M&S = Marks & Spencer (also nicknamed Marks & Sparks) — a major department store which offers "fittings" for women. |
