Subject: RE: Origins: Red River Valley, Gaelic? From: GUEST,Emmett Jordan Date: 20 Nov 16 - 08:42 PM Many years ago I read that some Scots started to settle in a valley with Native American Indians, but the Indians threw the Scots out. The Scots named the valley "Red" for the "red men", aka, the Indians. It was sort of a lament but I do not know exactly where the valley was perhaps in Colonial times? Bagpipe type or folk song? |
