What do you say.. does it ring any bells?..I'd appreciate any help...thanks.. DT was no help... Keep on the Sunny Side...Gary |

Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: Tucker Date: 14 Jul 99 - 11:02 PM you are talking about "lady in Red" done in 1989, but I forget the artist. Hope this was of some help |
Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: Joe Offer Date: 14 Jul 99 - 11:23 PM Well, I'd agree with Jeri, but I'm royally ticked that she beat me to the punch. (grin) Lady in Red (click) is close, but no cigar. -Joe Offer- WONDERFUL TONIGHT Eric Clapton It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear. She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair. And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?" And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight." We go a party and everyone turns to see This beautiful lady that's walking around with me. And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?" And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight." I feel wonderful because I see The love light in your eyes. And the wonder of it all Is that you just don't realize how much I love you. It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head, So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed. And then I tell her, as I turn out the light, I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight. Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight." |

Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: Jeri Date: 14 Jul 99 - 11:35 PM Joe - nyah, nyah! (I don't expect this sort of thing will happen very often, if ever again, so I'm enjoying it.) |
Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: Joe Offer Date: 14 Jul 99 - 11:41 PM Ah, it's getting harder and harder to maintain my "legendary" status around here. Do remember, Jeri, that I still hold the record around here - a reply with a clickable link in three minutes (and the link has to be to information that specifically applies to the question asked). I've never been able to match my own record, though. Just watch: Jeri is going to suggest that I "could set your clock back and reply before the person asks the question," but I wouldn't do that, would I? That would be cheating. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: Jeri Date: 14 Jul 99 - 11:46 PM Joe, I don't know if Mudcat uses the time on your computer or its own. If it uses yours, you could set your clock back and reply before the person asks the question, but that's cheating and takes all the fun out of it. |
Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: Sam Hudson Date: 15 Jul 99 - 04:57 PM Just for a giggle I did my 'folkified' acoustic version of this at the club one night, without (just for once) crediting the author, and it went down very well indeed. One lady came over at the break and said, "Oooh, that was lovely. Is it traditional?" I had to laugh. "... picked up the car keys..." I said. "Oh.. yes," she said. I do hope this doesn't start the "what is folk" debate off again, though. *s* |
Subject: RE: Challenge!Lyrics:'You look wonderful tonight' From: GaryD Date: 19 Jul 99 - 11:48 PM Great!...Thanks again, my friends, for proving that Mudcat is the greatest source of musical knowledge I know... That is, if I don't forgot to consult my other tremendous database of musical lore...my KIDS! Last night my friend & I were on the phone musing about the song when my kids overheard my conversation...and all three of them said they knew it & SANG it for us in THREE PART HARMONY!... I couldn't believe it..sure tickled me... and now..surprise! You've given me the words, too! We'll sing it at next month's bluegrass & old time music festival, here in Central MN.. Take care and thank you.. this does show once again that this place is more than just a stop over.. it's a place for friends to gather....a parting shot: Remember: "Always drink upstream from the herd!"... G'Night..Gary |
