Joy was from Harrogate and her first interests were in shanty singing in the 1970s and latterly in playing concertina to a high standard

Roy Hardacre played in a duo with her late husband and after his early death Joy trained as a physio ~ her memory was applied to this learning and she worked I believe for many years in this profession ~ I last spoke to her at Whitby ff some years ago

RIP Joy

Not sure why this was labeled BS if it is an obit; give us a bit more information about her (she died this year?) and we can update the subject line.

BS was wrong ~ needs deleting please

Joy was indeed a Bradford lass but well connected with my informant Roy and Michele from Harrogate

Stuart was her husband and I seem to remember going to the wedding with the likes of Joe Nicholson and Mo and Ian Woods

Oh no! How sad. I was on the same Morris side as Joy. Cononley Morris. She was a great concertina player but chose to dance for Cononley instead of playing music and was equally good at that. She was on here very rarely as, I think, Spectacled Warbler. I should have realised something was wrong as she had been deleting lots of earlier Morris conversations. I intended to get in touch and wish I had now. Sigh...

RIP, Joy.

I'm away at the moment and will say more later but I have lost a treasured friend and the folk scene has lost a great contributor and enthusiast. RIP Joy - you will be remembered by many

From the Whitby Folk Week UK Community Group on Facebook:
Remembering Joy Crampton.
Very sad news. We lost a dear friend after a brave battle with cancer on Wednesday May 13th. Joy Crampton was a big supporter of the Bradford and West Yorkshire folk scene and of Whitby Folk Week. She loved singing and in later years mastered the Hayden duet concertina. She put this to good use playing in music sessions and occasionally playing with Mrs. Porter's Ensemble and The Polka Dots Ceilidh Band. Here she is with yours truly, Kevin Holland and Nick Barber at The Elsinore during Whitby Folk Week 2017. RIP Joy we will miss you.
