Subject: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 22 Sep 00 - 02:43 PM For a week or two now I've been having some trouble with getting around in the Mudcat Forum. If I click on a post in the initial listing, instead of getting that post on the screen I'm jumped to the head of the list. Try it several times, same result. Then--sometimes--by clicking just at the top or the bottom of the sender's name, I'll be connected to that post. And of course (or maybe NOt "of course") sometimes this whole scenario doesn't happen. Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Jon Freeman Date: 22 Sep 00 - 02:50 PM I have just tried it on both loki and shorty using IE5 and Netscape and it all seems OK. Jon |
Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Branwen23 Date: 22 Sep 00 - 02:54 PM I have had the same problem from time to time... I'm using Netscape. It's pretty strange, just what DaveO descibed... very intermittent. -Branwen- |

Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Bert Date: 22 Sep 00 - 02:59 PM Two things that do cause intermittent problems are a Slow connection or Dirty mouse or mouse pad. |
Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: DougR Date: 22 Sep 00 - 02:59 PM I quit Netscape because I think it sucks. Others have had no problems, I guess. I had nothing but trouble. I have had not problems at all with Microsoft Internet Explorer. DougR |
Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Jon Freeman Date: 22 Sep 00 - 03:01 PM I have just managed to create the situation that I think Dave is describing using Netscape. It occurs if a users name is clicked and the relevant part of the thread has not yet loaded. I would think that this is the reason particularly as Mudcat has been suffering some very slow periods lately. Jon |
Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Branwen23 Date: 22 Sep 00 - 03:09 PM I am aware that issues such as slow connection or dirty mouse can cause some problems, however when at home, I use a cable modem, and never have any real connection issues, also, a dirty mouse will most often cause problems actually moving the mouse pointer, rather that problems clicking. I have noticed the situation descibed by Jon above, in which case the page has not yet loaded completely, however I have had this problem after the page has loaded. -Branwen- |
Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 22 Sep 00 - 04:43 PM I use Netscape, happily. I have no use for IE. DAve Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: Problem with Mudcat forum software From: Jon Freeman Date: 22 Sep 00 - 05:16 PM Oh well back to the battle of the browsers... I need both. Jon |
