Subject: Julie Ellison News for July/August 04 From: John Robinson (aka Cittern) Date: 23 Jul 04 - 02:48 PM Now we've got our breath back from the Ralph McTell support (work hard and your dreams CAN come true!), here's some news of upcoming gigs and a radio appearance. Remember that we now tour two shows: "Julie Ellison in Concert" and "Julie Ellison's Pub Crawl". So: 1) Radio Interview 2) "Pub Crawl" gigs in the near future 3) "In Concert" gigs in the near future 4) Possible charity gig in Sheffield 5) Summary of Autumn 2004 tours (for both shows) 6) What they are saying about "At Last" 'Ere goes … 1) Radio Interview: Monday 26 July 2004 "Folkwaves", presented by Mick Peat and Lester Simpson. Broadcast by Radio Derby (95.3fm, 96fm, 104.5fm, 1116am), Radio Nottingham (95.5fm, 103.8fm), Radio Leicester (104.9fm) and Radio Lincolnshire (94.9fm, 104.7fm, 1368am). Also streamed live over the internet at www.bbc.co.uk/derby/folkwaves/programme.shtml. Programme runs from 7:00pm to 9:00pm 2) "Julie Ellison's Pub Crawl" – only a short crawl this month and only two counties! Sunday 25 July 2004 Shoulder Of Mutton, 18 Methly Road, Castleford, West Yorkshire, WF10 1LX, UK, 01977 736 039 Starting time: 9:00pm Wednesday 28 July 2004 The Late Bar, Ford Street, Derby, Derbyshire, DE1 1EE, UK 01332 200 266 Starting time: 9:00pm 3) "Julie Ellison in Concert" A really special gig in prospect on Thursday 26 August 2004 at: The Jug & Barrel, 56 - 58 Town Street, Stanningly, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS28 6EZ Starting time: 8:30pm - doors open at 8:00pm Finishing time: 11:00pm Admission: £4.00 (£3.50 with a flyer) Julie is very pleased to announce special guests Rosie Clegg from The Rosie Clegg Band and Alex Eden from Crosscut Saw. Alex and Rosie will each do a solo set of about 30 minutes, thus giving an evening of continuous music from 8:30pm(allowing only time for very short turn-arounds between artists). The Jug and Barrel is an established music venue in Leeds with a very useful 'concert room' separate from the main bar. We are hoping that the audience will be a listening one so, this time around, we are promoting this as an 'In Concert' performance. This event promises music ranging from Irish folk through ragtime guitar to urban blues, with a little hint of classical and maybe even bluegrass along the way. Don't miss it !! Doors will open at 8.00 p.m. with Rosie Clegg starting the show at 8.30 p.m. Entrance fee is £4 (£3.50 with a copy of this preview or a flyer) 4) Possible charity gig in Sheffield We have been asked if Julie would be willing to contribute to an AIDS-related funding raising event in Sheffield in August and we have said yes (of course). Further details will be posted here when available and confirmed. Super songs, super recordings. Worth the wait!" "Fantastic!" "The vocal and playing are so clear and pure, I know I have heard you live and so know how well you perform, but capturing it on recording may have been difficult. I think you have done it though and it is really beautiful." "Don't tell anyone, but I put your CD on, was reading the sleeve notes and the second track started - and from the first few notes, I was crying like a child. It's playing again now as I write - same effect. Wow. That's a killer of a song." "I have just been listening again, to your CD this morning. Just wanted to say how much I admire it. I remember hearing Eva Cassidy for the first time and feeling the quality of her voice. I think you have your own "quality" and it is superb.
