Subject: Open Mike's radio show now streaming
From: open mike
Date: 14 Mar 09 - 12:08 PM

Today, March 14, 2009, and on the 2nd saturday of each month i host the Crossroads radio show. The station has just resumed streaming and my show today from 2:00 - 4:00 Pacific time should be accessible on the web at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/radio-bird-street. Check it out and let me know if you can hear me...this will be great, as our low power radio station has a small area of reception...but with the web we can be heard over all the planet--maybe even on other planets!

Today's show will feature Celtic music, as St. pat's day is soon, and fiddle music as the state wide fiddle contest will be held in our town on the last weekend in March.

i can be reached at veraloe(at)gotsky(dot)com if you have any reception reports, or music to offer for the show.

Laurel

Link checked - works fine for me. -Joe Offer-

yes, i miss streaming...i used to get reception reports from scotland, oregon, southern calif. now maybe further a-field...we did have streaming a while back, but that was only audio. i fear that some on dial up will not be able to get the video/audio mix, where they could get the signal if it was only audio.

plus that puts an end to bare nekkid broadcasting...can't get away with that any more....no more come as you are parties....in the studio....

i am looking forward to the mudcat special...perhaps i can fill 2 hours!

Omigoodness!
My first radio appearance & I missed it completely in April. Was yesterday's 'the Dutchman' from my homemade CD?? Have been looking through the radio station site & can't find anything so I assume it's been archived now, or maybe I'm just a bit stoopid?
Thanks so much {{{Laurel}}}

at 1 pm in France it was prob not my show..
it is 8-10 hours earlier here...
my show at 2-4 p.m. left coast coast time

would have been from 5-7 on the east coast U.S.

(not sure how that translates into French time...or Greenwich..)
(that is such a mean time...)

I played all songs by, for and about mothers, as the show was the day
before mother's day in U.S.

(sorry, but i did not play your "Dutchman", Hil.)

i will post the song list on my space when i type it out....

i saw there were (only) a couple of listeners...
i will find out if there is a way for
those who are on line to send a message
in to me at the studio....

to my Crossroads Show on www.radiobirdstreet.org this sat. afternoon
from 2-4 pacific time, i think that would be 5-7 mudcat or eastern.

this will be just a few days before my birthday, and just one year ago
today the fire which took my house was raging . It has been a roller coaster of a year.
hey roller coasters...perhaps i will play songs about carnivals, circusses and other such fun stuff.

Somewhere in Anthony Alpers' book "The World of the Polynesians" there is a translation of a short musical drama about Captain Cook's visit to Mangaia (?I think) written down by a missionary within living memory of the event. Text and sorta-stage-directions but no tunes, though.

There is also a tune commemorating Mai (or "Omai" as the Europeans called him), the Tahitian who came back with Cook to London.

see you there!

I caught the last 45 minutes having left our Christmas barn dance a little early. You included some interesting stuff.

Who sang the song about Xmas On The Isthmus of Panama? (The one where you kept dipping the fader to take out the rude word). I didn't catch the name when you back announced it?

Johnny Adams (UK)

I will be on the radio tomorrow...July 10...for 2 hours in the afternoon. 2 - 4 p.m. will play some songs about fire, among other things, as it was 2 years ago when the lightning fires consumed 200 houses (including mine) and over 50,000 acres of forest and woodlands
. We live in the area designated by fire terminlogy as I-Zone (Urban/
Wildland Interface) now also called W.U.I. Wildland Urban Interface.

The radio station is in a town nearly an hour from here. There was some thunder and lightning last night, and I am sure many of those who lost their homes and their community were having flashbacks of 2 years ago.

It starts about 4 minutes and 45 seconds in..the Crossroads show today featured songs about homelessness, hunger and soldiers....for memorial day. Also a few songs about and for Oklahoma and freedom and spring and gardening...http://krov.fm/broadcasts/view/107 the crossroads show is also up on the web now with the April show (rivers and tides) now available to listen to as well http://krov.fm/. look for the Crossroads show on the right hand side of the page. June show will air today 1 - 3 pacific time....streaming at www.krov.fm today's theme is Horses in support of a movement to stop horse slaughter, and also to stoop wild horse round ups. Also some Swedish music in celebration of Mid Sommar and Summer solstice...

if you google KROV you may come across a station in Austin or SanAntonio TX that is using those letters. This is a mistake that
the FCC made, as those call letters were designated to be for our
station in Oroville, Calif. yet that station is allowed to use
them, too. Very confusing, and quite a mix up by the F.C.C.

anyway look for Oroville and the Crossroads show..http://krov.fm

I am your Radio Common 'Tater......will post the playlist after the show....
