Don't remember the words, but I think Jody Miller sang this; had a mild hit. You might check some country music web pages.--John (not jon)

Sexist, chauvinistic claptrap!!!

Like running a house and raising the kids is a big deal. Any one in the business world could work a housewife's job in during a coffee break. People in sales have 100 times more pressure, factory people do 25 times more work. All of them come home to house where their spouse bitches about a few piddling errands and the schools and shopping and the Dr. and the Dentist...and on and on. WHOOPEE. I'm sick of hearing about the plight of the housewife. I mean like if they were as efficient as most business people they'd be done within a VERY short time and have nothing to do but lay around the rest of the day! But no, it just is so tiring....blah blah blah. Really sexist and chavinistic BULLSH*T!!!!!!!

catspaw, HouseHusband...worn out all the time.

QUEEN OF THE HOUSE
Recorded by Jody Miller
Words and music by Roger Miller and Mary Taylor

CHORUS
Up every day at six
Bacon and Eggs to fix
Four kids from 1 to 4
Pretty soon there'll be one more.

I got four floors to wax and scrub
And there's a dirty old ring in the tub
I'll get a maid some-day
But, til then, I'm Queen of the House.

No time to fix my hair
Need a new dress to wear
Old clothes will have to do
'Cause the kids all need new shoes.

I got bridge club each Tuesday night
He's goes out with the boys and gets tight
But when the evenin's through
He comes a-home to the Queen of the House.

I know the milkman, the iceman, they come every day
They give me tips on the horses to play
And when I've got the time to spare
I sit and wish I'd that I'd picked a rich millionaire.

I sing:
Up every day at six
Bacon and Eggs to fix
Four kids from 1 to 4
Pretty soon there'll be one more.

I got four floors to wax and scrub
And there's a dirty old ring in the tub
I'll get a maid someday
But, til then, I'm Queen of the House.

Repeat chorus and fade.

Thanks Gene!! And thanks for the info about COWPIE. One more question - does anyone know when those two songs, Queen of the House, and King of the Road were written? Was it the seventies? I checked out COWPIE, but didn't see a copyright date....

Thanks again catspaw 49. How do you ever find time to get on the internet, being a househusband and all? Oh, that's right. You get it all done early, then laze around the rest of the day (kind of like self-employed, work at home people like myself...) Ha, ha, ha...Thanks!!

Loretta Lynn's "Back In Topeka" is a much better song on the same subject. Written by that good ol' boy Shell Silverstein.
