The Lewes Arms isn't the only club that's open through the summer. Shammick Acoustic Sessions in Combe Martin, N. Devon, will be meeting as usual, with an Open Night on Saturday 12th July - singaround style with visiting performer Nigel Mazlyn-Jones doing half-a-dozen numbers, then a concert on 26th July with Irish storyteller Billy Teare and London Lasses' singer Kathleen O'Sullivan.

We're closed on 9th August as it's Carnival Week in the village and NOTHING else happens! But there's a concert on 23rd August with the wonderful Paul Downes, now working closely with Mick Ryan, but just him on this occasion.

There are a few support spots at the concerts, so if you're going to be in the area on holiday and fancy doing one, let me know (although you still have to buy a ticket, I'm afraid - everyone except the guest artist(s) does.

We love to see new faces, so you'll be made very welcome. Hope to see you.

Barbara

Great club, great hosts (I can crawl with the best of 'em!). If you're in the area on hols and it's not on your itinerary - WHY NOT!

By the way Barbara, if you see Dave Griffin at the club give him my regards. See you both at Broadstairs.

I hope Dave that you aint suggesting that I crawl, that is not in my
tool box. If you knew me you would be aware that I have a reputation for telling it how it is , a bull dust free zone.
I am glad that you responded to the post it is important that we do all we can to maintain Clubs like Tom And Barbara's alive

The only problem with Combe Martin is that it is too far from London - Though maybe thats an advantage ??

That's one of the reasons we're here, Terry! But it is good to see people from other parts of the country down here. Trouble is, North Devon, beautiful as it is, is off the beaten track, i.e. the one down to South Devon and Cornwall, and many people really don't know what they're missing! And that's not just the music...

Sort of refreshing again, but my computer has died and I've lost my mailing list, so it's particularly important to reach people in other ways.

This Saturday, we have the amazing Irish storyteller and singer Billy Teare and the equally wonderful singer from The London Lasses, Kathleen O'Sullivan, in concert, with support from a number of local performers. Apparently, Billy and Kathleen met up when they were both working at Sidmouth Festival a few years ago, and now enjoy working together when they get the chance.

It's only £6, and believe me, it's worth every penny. If you live anywhere vaguely near or are down here on holiday, don't miss the chance to see them. One guy I know is coming down from Bridgwater, and that's got to be a good 90 min. drive!

Hope to be able to say hello to some of you.

Barbara
