Anyone know anything about insuring festivals?

We insure the Lewes Folk Festival through Making Music. I think that we get a pretty good deal and I think there are quite a number of others in the SE that insure through them.

And is bad weather part of the cover?

Weather cover (if obtainable) is the norm for many things, including, for example, film shoots and helicopter work.

Well, no, ours is an October weekend - largely indoor festival, though it has been lovely each year for the 20-odd teams of dancers so far.

In past years, I have organised outdoor July festivals and I remember the agony of looking at weather forecasts and the sky on the days of the events. I must say that my heart goes out to Phil & Steve and all the other poor buggers that have organised camping-type festivals on the last few weekends. Joan Crump's in Peterborough was largely a wash-out and that is one of the driest parts of the country, so what it must have been like for those in the West Country, Wales etc?

In the latter days of Mrs Casey's involvement with Sidmouth , Steve Heap was presented with having to remortgage his house to get cover for The Arena , which was part of his reason for pulling out of the Festival

Bad thread title. Makes it sound like SOH is somehow responsible for a big financial loss. Unless you click on the link and go outside to actually read the article.

What a shame. I hope they don't end up out of pocket.

Just back from FolkStation on IOW - Rain every day on a farmers feild which had been rained on for weeks before.

Nearly everything went on as planned and all had a great time despite the mud and rain
