Why didn't you get your car out of the garage and use that instead of the bike? You're a strange lot down there.

My car had a poor poor - it had to be bashed with a hammer

It seems fine now

Message from Theo:-

The first monthly Unicorn Ceilidh of the 2006 Autumn Season at Hitchin Town Hall is on Friday 29th September with high-energy English dance music from TICKLED PINK.

The band was formed in 1989 as the perfect antidote to the stiff-starchy Country-dance bands of the time. They set out to be a band that could play Traditional English music that rocked, rather than just being another 'Folk Rock' Band. After a few line-up changes they became one of the most sought-after bands on the UK festival circuit.

They've appeared at almost every festival in the UK, including Glastonbury, Sidmouth, Towersey and Chippenham. Last year they played at many festivals including Fairport's Cropredy Convention, Towersey, Chippenham, Cambridge and Womad.

Their style combines Traditional English Music and song with many different musical genres: Rave, Reggae, Blues, Rap, Country etc etc etc …….whatever takes their fancy. The boys regularly work as a ceilidh band but are also more than capable of playing concert type gigs.

For more information visit http://www.tickledpinkmusic.co.uk/

The Caller for the evening is one of the country's most respected and versatile callers, on his first visit to Hitchin – GORDON POTTS.

Our interval entertainment (to give you a breather and a chance to buy a pint or two from the Real Ale bar) are Rockhopper Morris – performing a selection of virile and stylish Cotswold dances from the English traditions.
Tickets only £7.50 (under 14s £4) Doors open 7.30, dancing 8.00 till late

Tickets are also available for our New Year's Eve 'BIG CEILIDH', with RANDOM and Barry Goodman. Don't miss out, we were sold out early last year!

[FX: Thinks "Should prob'ly do this on a new thread, but gotta start somewhere"]

It all sounds like Great Fun, but just where is the Bull?

I'm akshirly looking to see if there's any clubs in or around Watford. All the obvious ones seem to have closed down but this appears to be a secret sub culture I've just stumbled across

chris :-)

Hi Chris - no - we're an open society - all are welcome to join in

The Bull is in Barton-Le-Clay - it's a village about 5 miles from junction 12 on the M1 (you go through Harlington & Sharpenhoe) - it's also between Luton & Bedford on the A6

We have folk around the room every other wednesday (next 4th Oct) and an all styles workshop on the wednesdays between

The Mudcat is a great source for finding out what's going on

There is also a local magazine called Unicorn that's got a lot of info

We got dangerous escaped criminals running riot through the village (well not quite) but I thought it would be a good excuse not to go outside today - my boss thought otherwise!!

PA - I thought your boss was in Argentina buying up all the Fray Bentos - tell us more

Cathy - you looked great with the fender slung over your shoulder - like a real rock and roller - it was a nice guitar - still has all its notes in the wrong places according to my fingers

The van with the criminals in was hijacked by the criminals friends between the court and Blakenhurst prison. They're on the lookout for an Audi. Hang on, my friends got an Audi. It made the BBC news last night! We're famous. He's an armed robber named Kevin, or was it Keith? My boss had just landed - anyone want to buy any cheap corned beef. (I've more than one boss, unfortunately, Chiefs and Indians if you know what I mean)

Blimey - that's exciting - I missed it though on the news

Why do criminals always have nice cars - is that justice?

I know what you mean - I'm an underling

Cathy - I vote for you over Bob (although he has wavier hair)

JB - can I put your fiddlers green on our new fund raising cd - I have a copy I won in your raffle - it will be limited to 200/end of Novemeber/strict copyright applies etc

Ross they have nice cars because they're criminals, but you could always be a gangsters moll, they you'd get to ride in the flash car without doing anything dodgy.

JB's fiddlers green! - dont worry he can get something from the chemist for that.

Wish I had straight hair Cathy.

Hi PA
Mine isn't straight(except the end bits due to gas filled straighteners, usually applied at red traffic lights en route to Barton in a rush). - It's Ross humour.

Love the girlie talk though. Ross is only interested in handbags and Doctor Death has given up his agony column to deliver Unicorns. (Ouch - the thought)

Hi Cathy, never used gas powered straightners, wish they would do ones that you can plug into the ciggi lighter, mind you that would interfere with my phone charger and I cant do the phone stuff and the hair at the same time. Does Ross perfer shoulder bags or the smaller neater type. Maybe we can do some swaps.
Dont get the bit about Dr Death and the unicorns, is he some kind of unicorn midwife!
Wow you see life down there !

Hi PA

Martin Dent - a well loved VIP in Barton circles - now signs in as 'The Unicorn Man'. Last year he called himself 'Dr Death'

The Unicorn is a local folk magazine that's got a lot of info. Martin is the one who brings copies to Barton. There's probably a website all about him somewhere.

Have a look on the Barton website too http://bartonleclayfolkclub.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/

but put your sunglasses on first.

Cathy

I heard that - I thought the colours were tasteful

Does being a moll mean I have to shave my legs

Oooo err missus, that was a shock, good thing I'd got the sun goggles.

No Ross - you can wax them!   I threatened my husband years ago that whilst I was giving birth to our son, he was to be on the next bed having his bits and pieces waxed!

The Unicorn Man said > Just as long as you don't support Watford Chris

I pay my Council tax and such - but I have to, it's the law. Well, so says this big man with his foot in me door.

Aah, _you_ mean football, don't you?
I follow Watford to see when it's sensible to visit what's left of the town. My sport of preference is cycling - easy on the knees :)
