I Would recommend Thursday evening ferries as they are generally less crowded and you then get a full day Friday. Our discount offer covers Thursday to Monday. Don't forget the Early bird ticket is only available until the end of January. Very productive meeting last night, really getting exciting now. Andy |

Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: tinasqueezer Date: 10 Feb 10 - 07:40 PM OK, the early bird has flown away with all his tickets (probabably to somewhere warmer at this time of year). The good news is that a slight hiccup with the ferry arrangements has been sorted today and it has turned out a bit cheaper than I said on an earlier post. We now have a fixed rate for a car/camper on the ferry with up to 4 adults that works out at £12.50 a head. Buy direct from FolkStation using the booking form, or just phone us for other combinations and for large vans, etc. A web-based credit card arrangement is in the pipeline when we get round to sorting out the details with one of the reputable operators - probably Ticketline. Or you can buy through the steam railway's web site as well!!!!!!! All the details on our web site. We are getting very excited about this years event as year 3 looks like it is building up to something very special. Mike |

Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 28 Feb 10 - 09:57 AM I'm told that there are red squirrels on the Isle of Wight - is that so? Are there any living near Folkstation? I'm also told that Tennyson wrote Crossing The Bar while looking out across the Solent, which suggests he may have thought the Almighty lived on the Isle as well: 'I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the Bar.' Valmai |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Andy Jackson Date: 28 Feb 10 - 02:29 PM Yes there are red squirrels all over the island, we saw one yesterday in fact. If you like the look of grey squirrels then the red is even cuter, small and delicate in comparison. I can't guarantee there will be any at Havenstreet but I would be surprised if they didn't make an appearance. |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 28 Feb 10 - 05:06 PM Never having seen one, I'd be thrilled if they did. About this ferry - should booked acts buy their ferry tickets now? Are there ferries at the bottom of the garden? Valmai |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Andy Jackson Date: 28 Feb 10 - 05:35 PM Booked acts let us do the worrying for them!! Just let us know when you would prefer to travel and what you will be travelling in and/or caravan etc. The same applies to stewards and those actually buying Season tickets, we look after your ferry booking. We have negotiated special rates for Thursday through to Monday Contact us via the website www.folkstation.co.uk for more details..It looks complicated but it really is a good deal, even better for four people travelling. And we still need stewards - look at Stewards |

Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Andy Jackson Date: 13 Jun 10 - 07:03 PM P.m.d Dave to stop him worrying. General info: if you have bought a ticket the ferry should have been sorted already, if you have volunteered to steward and we have a form from you, then the ferries are being sorted now. If you want to steward there is still time..see post above. If you want to buy a ticket see other link above. The Isle of Wight......festival central. Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Splott Man Date: 14 Jun 10 - 04:05 AM Watched some of it on the telly. I came over all nostalgic. I never got to see the Beatles, but now by son saw Macca in Cardiff on Saturday. |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 24 Jun 10 - 10:04 AM How's it going then? Any program info yet? Really looking forward to it!!! |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Andy Jackson Date: 24 Jun 10 - 02:06 PM It's getting so close now the best way to book your ticket is online at Ticketfarm The Isle of Wight's new web ticket service. Check the guest list on the website, it is still growing, as the confirmations come in. FolkStation As well as the major guests we are planning a full programme of Sessions, Folk Clubs, Morris, Storytellers, BEER, Food (new this year, full cooked breakfast ) The programme is being finalised as we speak, so more tempting details soon. But why wait, you know it makes sense. I could still do with a few more stewards, the best and most economical way to get involved in this embryonic festival. Yes I really want to be a Steward Please be quick. One of the charms of the Island is the sea crossing but it is a logistical nightmare to sort out in a hurry. See many of you there then, and don't forget choccies for the Mudgather. Andy |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Andy Jackson Date: 30 Jun 10 - 04:30 AM Well there's good news and there's bad news.... I've found my lost song book. Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Andy Jackson Date: 03 Jul 10 - 02:23 AM Campsite opens Thursday afternoon 5 p.m. Remember that Haven Street is a working steam railway. The FolkStation site is across the tracks so there is no vehicle access while the trains are running. Make sure you arrive before 10 a.m. or after 5p.m. if you need to get your car etc. on to the campsite. There is a large car park and pedestrian access all day of course. There must be a blues song about singing on the wrong side of the tracks? |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: GRex Date: 03 Jul 10 - 04:36 AM Thanks for the tip-off Andy. I assumme this means that we cannot, between 10am and 5pm, drive off the camp site when leaving. GRex |

Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 05 Jul 10 - 01:44 AM Now printing the music for our concertina part-playing sessions. We're definitely doing arrangements of The Speaking Figure (William Winter MS) Southrepps Hornpipe (Albert Hewitt, Suffolk) and Foul Weather Call (Sussex). In case we need more we're also bringing Galopede, Lord Nelson's Waltz (Jackson) and Galloway Girth (Sussex). Because I'm a great believer in being prepared, we'll also bring spare copies of half a dozen or so arrangements we did for Whitby last year. Tootle pip, Valmai |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: GUEST Date: 05 Jul 10 - 02:18 PM Ooooh I can't wait. Looking back through the posts I see it Anne Lister's wedding anniversary as well as ours so I reckon there'll be a lot of celebrating going on. |
Subject: RE: FolkStation- Isle of Wight Folk Festival From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 05 Jul 10 - 02:49 PM Right - we've just got our timetable. We'll do the first group of tunes on Saturday and the second on Sunday. I look forward to trying the local beers, having fond memories of a barrel of Burts which squirted hops over the ceiling and the Squire during a Chingford Morris Ale in the summer of 1976. As I remember, he was forced to stand with his finger in the spile-hole for a considerable length of time, an indignified position for a teetotaller. Alas, Burts is no more, but I'm sure we can find some good alternatives. What do the locals recommend? Valmai |
