I am having a clearout of vidoes and CD's. Rather than throw them out, if anybody is interested then please let me know.

The video's are Childrens videos and I will get the list together, but am not willing to split them as that would be a thankless task. So any grandparents who have a video and would like to have them available if they get landed babysitting, here is your chance. Or any parents with very young children who do not have a collection. First come first served, providing it is in the UK.

I have a three Cd set of The Black and White Minstrels that must be rare, so if anybody would like that, just PM me to save embarrassment to yourself LOL :-)

Haven't got chance to anything today, so will put the items up ASAP

Only to homes in the UK? Just wondering.

Gee, I'll like those Minstrels CD's, but I suppose the cost of sending them to the Colonies is prohibitive. Better that they stay in the UK, I guess...

The cheapest way to send CDs is to remove them from the plastic box, pack in paper slip case & stiff cardboard, with 'gift' written on customs label. Costs scarcely more than a letter...

You could bury them in Africa.
Or, more usefuly, use them as birdscarers for crops.
The cost of sending CDs in the UK now depends on perception of size rather than weight.
Or, to be more exact, whether in the eyes of whoever's behind the post office counter, a CD-sized jiffy bag constitutes a 'small' or a 'large' letter.
The latter is twice the price of the latter.

Perigrena was right actually.
Villan, if you throw away the jewel cases and keep the weight under 100grams, it qualifies as a letter.

Postal Rates

It doesn't.
It depends how thick it is (or the denseness of the counter clerk).
They're supposed to pass the item through a gauge but usually don't.
A CD should cost 40p or 60p (inland) but they'll try and extract at least £1.09.

In the U.S. it does.

Last week I received a Cd sent US -> UK for less than 1.30 USD.

Have sent many individual CDs in jiffy bags without problems. My local Post Office staff are all helpful, and willing to advise anyone with postage queries. They do have a gauge on the counter for customers to use and also one which they use.I think you're unlucky, Diane

sorry I haven't been back, as I have have had a very busy weekend. Thanks for all your comments. That is why I said only to the UK. I do want to try and keep my cost down as much as possible.

Diane, will I get done for sending politically incorrect material through the post :-) Were they morris men and women as well :-)

Anyway The Black & White Minstrels has gone to a good home.

Villan, you may wish to check out Freecycle. Google it.
