Subject: A simple song with harmonies and round From: katbond Date: 02 Nov 08 - 12:30 PM Hello i am new member and am seeking advice. I am looking for a simple song (possibly about death or sorrow) that is simple, has harmonies and can be sung in the round. I need to be able to teach this song and need some help on the notes. I cannot read music well and will be teaching to people who do. I thought of rose rose but perhaps a little to obvious. Is it possible to hear these songs sung somewhere. Thank you for your time Kathryn |
Subject: RE: A simple song with harmonies and round From: lady penelope Date: 02 Nov 08 - 12:34 PM There's one that goes Ah poor bird Take thy flight Fly above the misery Of this dark night But I'm at a loss as to how to get the tune to you. I don't know if any of the other Catters know it and can help. |
Subject: RE: A simple song with harmonies and round From: Melissa Date: 02 Nov 08 - 12:39 PM Welcome, Kathryn.. While you're waiting for some suggestions (you'll get some good ones here!) you could use Mudcat Search for rounds and see what you come up with. 'Ho, Young Rider' has a solemn sound. 'Rose' fits well with 'Ah, Poor Bird' |

Subject: RE: A simple song with harmonies and round From: Melissa Date: 02 Nov 08 - 12:50 PM Dave, do you know where to find a midi of that one? I've never heard it before and would like to! A midi of Ah, Poor Bird can probably be found on various gs songs sites. |

There is a youtube video of people singing this, I think. |
Subject: RE: A simple song with harmonies and round From: VirginiaTam Date: 02 Nov 08 - 01:23 PM here it is. Not exactly how we used to sing it but approximate enough to give you an idea. |
Subject: RE: A simple song with harmonies and round From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 02 Nov 08 - 09:00 PM Can't help you with the sad part, but this page has rounds and words. If you click, you can hear the tune. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~msmiller/rounds.html You could take a suitable tune and write your own words. |
