Subject: Tune Add: CAPTAIN JACK AND THE MERMAID (Meg Davis) From: Stewart Date: 16 Jul 04 - 01:19 PM This may be a long wait for the tune. But since I have just transcribed it from the Meg Davis CD, I thought I should post it. I recently discovered this beautiful song and the wonderful music of Meg Davis. I feel like I have discovered a hidden gem. Not only are her lyrics interesting and creative, but the music to which she sets them is wonderful, and her voice is beautiful. And she is a very gracious person who sent me a nice email thanking me for ordering her CD - "Capt. Jack and the Mermaid". It is a wonderful collection of her songs, recorded in the '70s and '80s and re-released on CD. I highly recommend it. Her web site is HERE. The tune, in ABC format below, consists of one verse from part I (in Dmaj) and three verses from part II (in Em). The third verse of part II has a different tune from the other verses. Part III has the same tune as part I. If you have trouble with deciphering the ABC, I can email anyone the Noteworthy Composer file or the "dots" as a pdf file - just PM me.
