When I heard this 'joke' on mudcat, it was about the Irish.

A couple of angry exchanges ensued...

Interesting to see if anyone here cares about the Polish being insulted

This is what I call a "scape-goat" joke. Just fill-in-the-blank with whatever kind of people you're down on at the moment. Personally, I think they're pretty unintelligent and don't speak very highly of the teller either.

The Polish are a brave and intelligent people... They would laugh a this joke just as much as the Irish would. Lighten up and enjoy a joke not intended to harm anyone.

This joke is in such bad taste, I'm only telling it to close friends and family.

My friend had a better joke. He says that he was travelling home with a Pakistani he worked with and was saying that the war was getting quite bad and did he think he (a Muslim) would get dragged into it. He said no, not unless it got near his family's village. "Where's that?" asked my friend. "Ramsbottom" came the answer.

(For those across the pond, Ramsbottom is a small town in Lancashire which people for some reason find amusing.)
