Friend of ours, Tom Lewis (name dropper!!) is finding his ex-Rodney Chief's cap becoming exceedingly scruffy and disreputable!   Has anyone any ideas where a replacement 7 or 71/2 might be found??

I would imagine this is one for the UK Catters.If it was ex R A F I might be able to help but the Andrew is outside my scope.Hopefully some one can turn something up before Tom and Lynn arrive in August

Try the military surplus stores they'll be able to meet your needs failing that S.M. Bass in hull will be able to help you but at full price

There's an outfit called Berkeley Surplus on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, CA that might be able to get a line on one or even have it in stock. They've got military stuff from all over the world. I think he may be planning to be in the San Francisco Bay Area at some point; maybe he could get over there.

Any naval tailors in Portsmouth or Plymouth, although as you mentioned Rodney it will probably be a black cap, and those went out a long, long time ago. Good luck with your search.

Regardless of the color of the hat, you can always obtain a cover in another color, usually white, to go over the hat at ex-service stores. At one time all that was issued was a frame and covers of different colors, the hat did not have a cover sewn on.

Would it not be possible to exchange it at a naval stores depot?
Just a thought, but I know army stores can be helpfull when exchanging their kit.
Access could be a problem, but if you know someone in the cake........
