It's about 18 years since Pete did a gig in anger. He turned up at Four Fools a couple of years ago and did a couple of songs and it was like he'd never been away. Looking forward to seeing him do his spot.
Cheers
Mark

I am very pleased to hear that Pete is coming out of retirement. He must have been pretty damn young to have retired! He was a great singer with a lovely onstage personality.

I hope Ormskirk will encourage him to take another hike around the folk clubs

When I saw him several months ago he did say that he was thinking of doing some gigs again.

Open Mikw,

If you've never seen Peter you have missed one of the finest talents that hit the folk clubs of the 70's and early 80's. A writer of wonderful songs, who could play guitar and sing to a brilliant standard. If you ever see him advertised, do yourself a favour and go and see him

Does this mean there is a faint chance he will get back together with Bill Caddick and Tim Laycock for a performance (or more) of A Duck on his Head?????

I do hope so.

I recall enjoying Pte at the Topic Folk Club in Bradford around the early 1980s.
It would be nice to see him back on the scene.
Quack!

Pete was an 'ever present at Redcar FF' for many years, "Joe Peel" and a number of other songs continue to be sung at folk clubs around the UK

Good luck to him

I still sing many of Pete's songs because:
a - they're great songs
b - he told me to and I wasn't going to argue with him!

"Joe Peel" and "Birthday Cake City" came out last week but I also sing "Sticks and Stones", "Lark Across the Vapour Trail", "Baron and the Busker", "Smiling David", "Category D", "Act of God", "Nee Coals Off", "Rust and Dust" amongst others.

Cheers
Mark

Good to see Pete do a set last night at the opening concert of the Ormskirk Comes Alive festival. Whilst he's not giving up the day job to go into full time gigging again, he may certainly drop into a club locally on a singers night sometime and do a couple of songs.
He's lost none of the old magic that went into his performances.

Cheers
Mark
