Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: Gaffer Date: 14 Mar 21 - 10:05 AM Don't know why I took so long to hear the news. Perhaps the pandemic was one factor. I wish Terry as complete a recovery as possible. His legendary stubbornness will help him in his battle as will patience - he must have enormous reserves of patience as he was never one to squander it on the likes of us! Get well as soon as you can old mate! Gaffer |
Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: Hesk Date: 15 Mar 21 - 07:16 AM I've known Terry to natter to, especially at The White Horse Folk Festival, for many years, but never noticed that he was particularly stubborn. What form did the stubbornness take, if it is not a rude question? |

Subject: Review: terry silver From: GUEST,Ray Martin Date: 20 Mar 21 - 05:25 AM I worked with Terry Silver for many years but have been unable to make any contact with or about him since his accident. Does anyone have an update of where and how he is? |
Subject: RE: Review: terry silver From: GUEST,henryp Date: 20 Mar 21 - 05:39 AM There is a thread; Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers) From: gnu Date: 21 Feb 21 - 07:11 PM Re Terry Silver, Leadfingers: Moira Craig : Hi Sally, Terry has basically recovered well although his fine motor skills are not great and he isn't playing his instruments now. He has little or no interest in music now and his memory is not great due to the brain damage from the accident.. He is living in a sheltered accommodation apartment in Newark near his brother and sister in law. They say he seems settled and happy enough but he doesn't use his phone or laptop much as he gets confused about how to use it. It's very sad when you consider he was out nearly every night before the accident. Xx · Reply · 1h |
Subject: RE: Review: terry silver From: GUEST Date: 20 Mar 21 - 05:57 AM this is the current situation but there is another thread giving a lot more information about what's happened to Terry over the past years |
Subject: RE: Review: terry silver From: GUEST,Ray Martin Date: 20 Mar 21 - 06:21 AM Thanks so much. I will pass this on to others he worked with. |
Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: guitaaress Date: 21 Mar 21 - 06:07 AM I worked with Terry for years during the 70s and early eighties. I've known him since the sixties and The Coach and Horses in High Wycombe. We were really good friends until I left UK for foreign lands. Should any of you meet up with Terry pleas tell him I think of him often and still consider him a good and trusted friend. Love him like a brother. Just say Crown Pishill and The Drover. I'm sure it will jog his memory. Just praying to the heavens for his full recovery. |
Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: Stilly River Sage Date: 22 Mar 21 - 01:08 PM I spoke with my friend who had the severe head injury and she asked me to pass along a tip on something she found helpful. There is a medication in the US called Armodafinil that she found particularly helpful in treating some of the impact of the brain injury. Online there is a description: Armodafinil is currently FDA-approved to treat excessive daytime sleepiness associated with obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and shift work disorder. It is commonly used off-label to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome, and major depressive disorder. I'm guessing her use is "off-label." And she also said that a test to determine if she's getting enough Vitamin D helped because she's getting supplemental now. Both of these things have helped clear some of the fog the injury caused. Each case is different, so this is just one avenue to explore. |
Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: Felipa Date: 22 Mar 21 - 03:24 PM Silly River Sage - He probably should get vitamin D supplement anyway due to age and amount of time spent indoors. That would apply to many of us. |

Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: GUEST,Clive Hughes Date: 11 Apr 21 - 06:13 PM Just happened to come across this when I was searching for info on Sidmouth. Very sorry to hear of the accident - Terry and I were the resident duo at the Robin Hood Pub in Bermuda in 1973-74. Met up again with him in Sidmouth in ‘93 or ‘94 and saw him again every year there for several years. Many happy memories of Bermuda and Sidmouth - I hope the recovery goes well. Cheers Mate!, |

Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: SINSULL Date: 12 Apr 21 - 09:16 AM I'm glad he has recovered but very sad to hear he no longer plays. Terry spent some time in Maine several years back. The music began at dawn and went until the wee hours. Terry was friendly and generous with his knowledge also the perfect houseguest. He also had a wry sense of humor Kendall particularly enjoyed. |

Subject: RE: Terry Silver (Leadfingers)-Jan 2020 accident From: GUEST,Severn Date: 18 Apr 21 - 12:09 PM I talk with him on the phone from time to time, the last time being yesterday. He is about the same as Moira has reported and seems to be staying as he is. Though he can still play his whistle and sing a cappella, he has no interest in having anyone hook him up with online Zoom Room sings. Some of it might be accessibility to where he is, as he would need a friend as an internet guide, but it just may be he would rather just watch the tube instead. We talk of old memories and shared adventures on both sides of the pond and have a good chat, thanks to paying extra each month for unlimited overseas calls. I hope someone has posted his phone # and address. I am sure he would like to hear from you. |
