Subject: Lyr Add: THE SKIPPER'S SONG (Amos Jessup)
From: Amos
Date: 31 May 08 - 08:07 PM

Kendall suggested I post here a song I recently recorded for him (and Jacqui).

So here ya go:

    Skipper's Song

    (Always New))

Back along the broken course of years, the old faults are forgotten.
The accusations all confess that they never sounded true.
And the little stories people tell, all seem like old history,
But the dawn upon the ocean, and the breezes from the mountains,
    And a kiss,
    Are always new

Yesterdays, and dying fires, well, they never will abide
In the great surprise of moments, when your love is by your side.
But the lift of mist from the ocean's face
        And the sunrise touching dew
And the flash of a smile from a loving heart
        Are always new,
        Always new.

I've made home upon deep waters, and lived on a tree-bound shore
I have farmed the deep Atlantic, where the midnight rollers roar.
My mistakes are long forgotten, the complaints and grudges, too.
But the touch of spray on a midnight watch, the breakers' tune,
    And a kiss
    Are always new.

Yesterdays, and dying fires, well, they never will abide
In the great surprise of moments, when your love is by your side.
But the lift of mist from the ocean's face
        And the sunrise touching dew
And the flash of a smile from a loving heart
        Are always new,
        Always new.

I have caused a chance of heartbreak, and been thrown out wet and sore.
And the gossip and complaints have all grown old
All the fears that never happened, they don't surprise me any more,
And the scars are old, but a single touch from a hand I love,
    And a kiss
    Are always new.

Yesterdays, and dying fires, well, they never will abide
In the great surprise of moments, when your love is by your side.
But the lift of mist from the ocean's face
        And the sunrise touching dew
And the flash of a smile from a loving heart
        Are always new,
        Always new.

A rough recording of the song (much in need of polishing) can be found here.

Regards,

A

Some folks are having a hard time getting any volume out of that saved version online. One remedy is to save the target file to disk and burn it to a CD which fixes it. But I will tweak the file tonight sometime and repost it with better amplitude. Sorry for the glitch -- it played fine on my system through a web browser

I got enough volume, by turning things up pretty far. Then I linked to You tube from another thread, and about blew my eardrums out. The subpoena for my lawsuit shout arrive soon...

Ta, Mag. A valuable comment, indeed, from such a connoisseur.

I managed to copy to CD with the help of my daughter and the sound is fine now.

I love the words and Amos does a good job on it.

I have improved the file connected to the above link. It should, I think, sound louder, played through a browser. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the very kind remarks. They warm the cockles of me 'art.

Amos-

It's a little better on my MAC and Judy's PC but we're still cranked up to max and it could stand to be twice as loud.

It's really puzzling how things work.

It's not nice to have links which explode into people's ears either.

Actually Judy has much more control and she just demonstrated that what you are doing sounds great, as expected. I wonder where my master control panel is on my pathetic MAC.

Awwwww. It's beautiful, Amos! I can't listen from this computer, but the lyrics are wonderful! Looking forward to hearing you sing it.
