Subject: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: Sarah the flute Date: 20 Jul 04 - 11:16 AM The weather forcast looks good so get out those picnic sets and hurry along to West Ham Park in London this Sunday (25th) for a FREE concert on the bandstand from the Flying Chaucers. We'll be playing between 3-5pm. Its a really nice little park and if you live south of the river you can combine it with a scenic trip on the Woolwich Ferry. In fact last year our melodeon player entertained the passengers on the homeward journey with a tear jerking rendition off danny Boy on the Swannee Whistle - an experience once heard never forgotten ...but don't mention the top note! Hope to see some of you there. Sarah |

Subject: RE: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Jul 04 - 07:58 PM Depending on whether the Limpit brat has been good or not and whether I can get them out the house, you might get a couple more...... She'll be the one saying 'is it nearly over yet' and 'can we go home now' whilst being sat on and gagged. LTS |

Subject: RE: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: treewind Date: 23 Jul 04 - 11:08 AM Well blow me down - I went to your web site and found out that I know you! Do you remember calling with the Angel Band in a church ceilidh at Windsor a few years ago, at short notice because our booked caller wasn't well? Out in mid East Anglia now, can't make your park gig but I hope you get decent weather and an appreciative audience. Anahata |

Subject: RE: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: Sarah the flute Date: 23 Jul 04 - 04:09 PM I do remember... I think ... wasn't that the one with all the morris dancers or is my memory fading???? It was a good evening I recall. Small world eh? Are you still playing in a band out in those eastern parts? Subject: RE: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: treewind Date: 23 Jul 04 - 04:52 PM There may well have been morris dancers - the band was formed from Angel Morris. The gig was being run by a member of the morris team (who lives locally) and we played lots there because of that connection and sometimes got the team in to dance too. Yes, Mary and I are in Cambridge based band Fendragon and also in one whose other three members live in or near Huddersfield (really!) - that's English Rebellion - and that's apart from all our songs and tunes work as a clubs-and-festivals duo. (Anahata - had a look at your band sites - looks a good line up. Do you know the Alien All Stars Ceili band based in Cambridge? I call with them from time to time). Pack those picnics folks! Sarah |

Subject: RE: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: Sarah the flute Date: 26 Jul 04 - 07:22 AM Thanks to all the catters who made it to the park. Weather was a bit dodgy and the Woolwich crossing a bit windy! Our next FREE event is on Sunday 29th August at Parliament Hill Fields. Sarah |

Subject: RE: Flying Chaucers West Ham Park Sunday From: The Borchester Echo Date: 26 Jul 04 - 07:39 AM Sorry I didn't make it! Silverlink trains decided to stop running and the buses got snarled up in horrendous jams. PHF is much simpler to get at - I'll be there! |

Well, we saw you in your cars driving home..... glad it was a good gig, hopefully we'll make another one sometime. Manitas was there before us, but he went on to a session after so I've not had a coherent report back yet! LTS |
