There's a great film of Tim singing Fred Neal's "The Dolphins" on the 1st Old Grey Whistle DVD. I always liked "Morning Glory".
His son wasn't half bad either.

Song to the Siren is very haunting. I went out and bought a couple of sets of his CD's a year or more ago. Some songs I like, some I don't, but Sefronia has been one of my favourite albums since I heard it in the 70's.

I like his son's music too. Doubly sad.

I remember his records from the 1960s, but heard nothing since.

I gather from the above that he must be no longer with us? That's a shame. I didn't hear anything about his death.

Goodbye and Hello was one of the very first non-teenybopper albums I ever bought. Tim Buckley had the most haunting tenor voice. Some of his songs were deeply disturbing, and not a little bit wierd. "Janie" was written for his mother, and contains the lines, "I'd truely love to lie by you, if I wasn't with the one I am with." Hmmm.

Another sad seventies smack death.

It makes you wonder what music he would be performing today if he were still alive. "Happy/Sad" was a favorite of mine. I'll have to dig it out tonight.

He died on July 29, 1975 by overdose of heroin/morphine...

Tim's son Jeff was born in 1966 and died in a drowning accident in Memphis on May 29, 1997. He had a very unusual voice and music style, which is not unusual, considering whose son he was. I have his CD called Grace. It takes a while to get into what he was doing, and like his father's work, some people hate it and some love it.

I about wore out Tim Buckley's early albums. A few years later, I visited a dear friend and her husband in NYC (circa 1970). They were good friends with David Friedman (played vibes with TB), and in fact they had vibes in their living room, and David came over and gave quite an impromptu concert.

I still play several TB songs regularly at shows, but the best testament I can giver for Tim's music is here, 40 years later, one of my daughters asked for a Tim Buckley CD for Christmas.
