Subject: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Tig Date: 01 Sep 04 - 09:39 AM Since I am holding my birthday bash at the Globe, Guisborough, North Yorkshire on Friday October 15th with Leadfingers as the booked guest at the folk club there that night Magician and Gillie have decreed that the whole weekend should become a Mudcat Free For All (no, that DOESN'T mean the ale is free!) for anyone willing/able to spend all or part of the weekend there. There is room in the yard for several camper vans - let us know in advance please if you want to bring one - and floor space in the Lounge for indoor camping. Last February we had a great time and the locals have been asking when we will be back. Why not come and join us? |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Leadfingers Date: 01 Sep 04 - 10:11 AM Feel a bit 'umble about having a club gig turned into a Mudcat weekend , And am not sure wether or not I can hang around much on Saturday , BUT I am definately looking forward to Friday evening . Waterdragon & spouse have already booked their room, along with Tig & badger (((in separate rooms!! :-) ))) No doubt Wigan will be there with Nancy. Possibly Col K and Col's Angel. Wigan to do breakfast's at 4d a time!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-) P.M. us to book spaces for any camper vans and car spaces (limited space) One caravan available on site. ((?DUCKS ?)) Gillie & Magician |

Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Geoff the Duck Date: 05 Sep 04 - 05:33 PM We're still clearing up after Whitby - not helped by funerals, bouts of lumbago and lord knows how much laundry to process. We've not had much time to visit Mudcat, and scarcely been in the same room at the same time, to discuss plans for the "distant" future. Put us down as a "YES". Quack!!! Geoff and Jane. |

Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Tig Date: 09 Sep 04 - 01:26 PM Bad Leadfingers????? Does this mean that you will not enjoy the hospitality? Should we remember to take the rotten fruit to throw at you during your performance? Brush up on the insults? - or just remember to turn OFF the camera in the lounge in case we see Wigan wandering in his underwear late at night? |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: wigan Date: 11 Sep 04 - 09:29 AM can't believe it! i've been stuck in bed for only three days and now i'm able to sit up unaided i find you've let this thread sink to the bottom of the list!! tig, i wasn't wandering around in my underpants! i just felt that with so many people at the bar i needed to lean against it so it didn't collapse. seems like only tyke and davetnova want to bring campervans. taht means magician won't have to move his beer garden!!! or is everyone sleeping in the bar to get a live show this year. YOU WISH! bwta wigan |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Leadfingers Date: 11 Sep 04 - 12:29 PM Thats why I said as bad as last year - Us old timers NEED our beauty sleep , and when the session in the bar goes on till after four in the morning , and I am trying to sleep in the corner of the bar THAT is seriously BAD !!!! The silly thing is I am STILL looking forward to the weekend . |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Mrs.Duck Date: 11 Sep 04 - 02:03 PM Do tell Wigan what has caused you to take to your bed? Strange to tell I have been there too although I am also up today. I had the misfortune to be bumped from behind. |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: wigan Date: 11 Sep 04 - 04:48 PM nothing secret mrs d, although the thought of being bumped from behind............. must have picked a bug. sommat like gastric flu. symptoms-------- dyearea, dizziness as soon as i stood up, and more worryingly blacking out after dizzy spells. no energy, couldn't walk more than about 20yds without a rest. starting to recover, but i went to the shops earlier, about 150yds,had to sit down at the shop and then when i returned flopped into a chair and couldn't get up for about 15mins. total feeling of exhaustion, not helped by not eating since wed am. mind i've now tightened my belt by a notch!!!! anyway, only missed out on a good night at the globe on fri and a big night out with friends tonight and not seeing my new lady tomorrow. all will be well!! |

Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Tig Date: 13 Sep 04 - 02:08 PM I missed you on Friday Wigan - Badger and I took Magician and Gillie's keys off them for the weekend as they were infecting all the customers. Sounds like they got at you! It was a good night with Mundy and Turner and those who turned up enjoyed it. Jane, I take it you WERE aching like mad by the next morning. Hope you are feeling a lot better now. Just because you wanted to irritate your head this early in the year :-) |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: wigan Date: 13 Sep 04 - 02:23 PM tig, sorry i wasn't there but i'll give you a doubly big hug next time. magician had a cold a couple of weeks back and in a roundabout way passed it on to me. i saw him as i was recovering from that and he looked terrible. i think that still having the remains of a cold is what made me prone to whatever bug i subsequently collected. still,i'm recovering now and should be on top form come the bash. looking forward to it,and to meeting up with those i now consider old friends. if you readers haven't booked your space. DO IT NOW bwta wigan |

Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: Tig Date: 20 Sep 04 - 08:25 AM If you look earlier Lead that's what Gillie said they would cost! I *think* she was referring to the fact Magician emptied Wigan's pocket of his last 4 P before he let him leave the pub a couple of weeks ago :-). He put it into Sooty. |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: wigan Date: 20 Sep 04 - 02:19 PM and I won't forget it. One of the locals offered to lend me some, but I said no as the magician was still hovering round. I'm not charging for breakfasts, cos i'm only cooking it. just remember, in the words of the song,(if the magician is around) "keep your hand on your four p" see you all there |

Ive got little bit of footage of Festival on Edge in the pub in Much Wenlock. http://www.sabrinaflu.co.uk/Edge/edge_files/slide0001.htm Does take a little time to load as its a webpage made in Powerpoint. The manic laughter is me, hence the camera rocking! Now you know what to expect at the Globe!! We were packed into the back room of the George & Dragon in Much Wenlock.... in various states of inebriation - except me who was driver to many. I did 2 runs to Stokes Barn with rather more than I should in the way of passengers packed into the travelling tip. We then packed in Magician & Gillies caravan and sang and sang. Anyone need a lift from soggy shrops to the bash? fxx |

All it takes is a bit of JavaScript that a beginner like me can figure-out from a book. Gillie - have I got the URL rigth (or write?) |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: magician Date: 20 Oct 04 - 11:34 AM http://www.btinternet.com/~banjo.bill/globe.htm The site belong's to Bango Bill. There is a parent directory if you miss of the bit /globe etc. on the end. Other than that I'm not sure. It is a guest listing for the Globe Folk Club (Bill is a member) Gillie |
Subject: RE: Oct Mudcat/Birthday Bash at the Globe From: magician Date: 20 Oct 04 - 11:35 AM Other than that if you care to p.m. me your e-mail address I can arrange to send you a copy of our listing Cheers, Gillie |
