Well, it is an interesting concept that a consortium of 5 people might be able to get together to afford shares in a really nice guitar.

And they seem to have worked out a nice compromise on the lease-share arrangement.

By chance I just heard the original of the song on the radio. Walk off the earth's single guitar version is an incredibly clever recreation of something originally on several different instruments.
I also checked the band out via the web. I discovered they also have a video containing Interesting use of a Ukelele.
Quack!

The original by Gotye seems to be getting a lot of play on UK radio 2 at the moment.
I thought that people who have heard it might be interested in seeing the version by Walk Off The Earth (Roger's original link) so refreshed the thread.
I've also been looking and listening to Youtube stuff by Walk Off The Earth and like their fun attitude to music.
Quack!

Loved it; very impressive and it looks like they had a blast doing it.

Very creative and impressive and nice to listen to!

(But Tommy Emmanuel can do pretty much the same thing with just his own two hands:

Tommy Emmanuel: Mombasa
The second half of the video shows his combination of skills/techniques best.

This one shows off Tommy's skill at using the guitar as both a melodic and a percussion instrument really well, but he doesn't sing on it: Tommy Emmanuel: Pegao

There's another video on YouTube where Tommy's playing "Yankee Doodle" with one hand and "Dixie" with the other, simultaneously.

Angry? looks like an act to me. If he was really angry he would wrap it around a bed post like I did.

The Humber River Valley Boys used to do a version of this. It was pictured on the cover of the album They Said It Couldn't Be Done (The word "Couldn't" was crossed out and replaced with "Shouldn't" on the album cover.)
The Country Gentlemen did a tune with all of the instruments, but the guitar player would continue playing the right hand of the guitar, but play the left hand of the banjo, which freed the banjo player's left hand to play the left hand of the bass which freed the bass player's left hand to fret the mandolin which freed the mandolin's player's left hand to fret the guitar.

I seem to recall the Dubliners doing one they called the Octopus Reel, with everyone playing half one instrument and half another.
Walk off the Earth do a lot of occasionally subtle variations of the same sort of thing, HERE!.
Quack.
