Subject: The Thread that never was ... From: Steve Parkes Date: 24 Nov 99 - 03:59 AM I don't know if it's just me, or if it happens to other people ... sometimes, as I read through the thread names, as I click on one, another catches my eye: just as I'm trying to read the name, the new page comes up, and when I go back to find it again, it's not there! Was it ever there? Did I imagine it? Or was it some kind of 'ghost' thread that only I could see? Steve, looking nervously over his shoulder |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 Nov 99 - 05:04 AM Oooh scary.... It's happened to me too. Although my niggle at the moment is reading through threads and realising that I had posted to it, but can't remember what, when or why...... dooo DOOOO dooo dooo, dooo DOOO dooo dooo.... LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Little Neophyte Date: 24 Nov 99 - 07:16 AM Steve, maybe when you go back someone has posted to that particular thread and it has moved to the top of the Thread list. Or maybe you just can't see it. There are quite a few threads. Or maybe it is wise for you not to read that thread. Some things just shouldn't be questioned Banjo Bonnie |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Bat Goddess Date: 24 Nov 99 - 07:51 AM I generally find that happens when I've refreshed for 3 or more days and then hit Forum Home instead of Back and get the thread names for only 1 day. Drove me nuts (not that that's such a long trip) until I figured out what I was doing. Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Chet W. Date: 24 Nov 99 - 08:44 AM I don't have the answer, but let's not rule out something supernatural just yet. Chet |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: BSer Date: 24 Nov 99 - 04:39 PM I think it's just that Magic Monitor syndrome. I look and look for a recent thread and can't find it, then I go do something else for a while, and when I come back it's immediately staring me in the face (with, perhaps, a hint of a grin, since my comments for the thread are then obsolete.) |

Subject: Invisible Thread From: Allan C. Date: 24 Nov 99 - 06:02 PM Perhaps what you have experienced is due to clicking on a thread title in the "New Messages" window which carries a name different than that of the thread to which it is posted (as I have done here). Then, when you try to find that posting again on the "Forum Home" page, it has disappeared. Even worse, it will not be retrievable through a thread search (at least, I think not) under, the word "invisible" because that isn't the proper title of this thread. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Jeri Date: 24 Nov 99 - 07:20 PM Allan, the search works - I just tried looking for your message. It pulls up individual messages, not threads. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Chet W. Date: 24 Nov 99 - 07:40 PM I'd still like to explore possible supernatural causes. Chet |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Mudjack Date: 24 Nov 99 - 08:57 PM Yeah, it happens to me all the time, but thats because I can't stay still long enough to stay anywhere. I'm guilty as hell for skim reading a thread and missing the meaning of the thread and more times than not, lose what it was I was tracking. But I like the idea that there is some aliens and gremlins out there screwing up my sane side. Mudjack |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 25 Nov 99 - 04:59 AM Anyone parked their computer over an ancient burial ground?? (Although there are parts of the UK where you can't spit without hitting an old burial ground, I know what was here before - water meadow and then market gardens. I'm sitting on what used to be a rhubarb field. Perhaps that is why I have a craving for custard....) LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: The Thread that never was ... From: Micca Date: 25 Nov 99 - 06:31 AM As I was going up the stair I met a man who wasn't there he wasn't there again today I do wish he'd go away Perhaps our resident Loki (anonymous, shitstirrer, spurious, thread contributor) causes it. |
