Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: GUEST,Jon Bartlett Date: 07 Jan 02 - 10:35 PM Guest, indeed! Help, I'm trapped inside a loop (or mebbe a Klein's bottle). When I protest that I'm a member,I'm advised to send mY email address, which, when posted, produces a "your email address is wrong" flag. When I try and "write to an adminstrator", I get the same message. When I try and become a member again, it still says my email address is wrong (how can an address be "wrong", anyway?). |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 07 Jan 02 - 10:40 PM It can easily be wrong if it's not the one you originally registered with. http://help.mudcat.org/threads.cfm will sort it out for you. |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Jeri Date: 07 Jan 02 - 10:56 PM Jon, it sounds like you're trying to register again. Go to the the Quick Links, and select "Reset Cookie." If you've forgotten your password, post in the Help Forum, and Pene Azul/Jeff can help you. (Malcolm posted the link, and it's at the top of every page.) |

Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Pene Azul Date: 07 Jan 02 - 11:25 PM I sent you an email, Jon. Jeff |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Jon Freeman Date: 07 Jan 02 - 11:35 PM NO Jeri, Jon Bartlett was stuck in the dreaded old member loop. Looks like Pene is sorting him out but for reference, you get something like this below and it can be a bugger to get out of... Jon Greetings, Jon Bartlett! We here at the Mudcat are happy to announce that we're rolling out a new and improved Mudcat. Fear not, faithful follower of all things Mudcat, this is still the same old place you're used to. We are just revamping our system to allow the Mudcat to continue to grow and evolve in the coming years. Before resuming your session on the Mudcat, we ask you to take a minute to update your member information. Each member account will now be accessed with your Mudcat Name and a password. The Mudcat is still completely free for all to enjoy. You will not need your password to access the site, only to access your personal member information. This will allow us to provide new member services, such as the ability to order small label folk and blues recordings as well as other services we plan to add in the future. Enter your email address below and hit submit to update your member profile. Thanks for your time, and we hope that you continue to enjoy the Mudcat music community |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Jeri Date: 07 Jan 02 - 11:45 PM Yep, Jon - I forgot about that. Hopefully, Jeff will get him sorted out. |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Jon Freeman Date: 07 Jan 02 - 11:50 PM Hope so to Jeri (and am sure he will)... Jon |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Jon Bartlett Date: 08 Jan 02 - 12:24 AM Hooray! Many thanks to Pene Azul and to all Mudcatters who released me! Now you get three wishes. Jon (it was that stoopid "G" that I had forgotten) |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: CapriUni Date: 08 Jan 02 - 10:04 AM Yay! You're free! (And in my experience, middle initials cause far too much trouble for their worth) |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 08 Jan 02 - 10:59 AM Is that Jon Bartlett the one from Vancouver? |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Mr Red Date: 08 Jan 02 - 02:39 PM Fear not. The illustrious BBC site has a far more subtle (did I mean unergonomic) site syntax I registered and flouted their rules (te he) and got the first post in before the auto-censor awoke. Trying to find how to alter my personal details was a waste - you can't. So eventually I unsubscribed and resubscribed legally. BUT I answered the oldest validation e-mail second and - you guessed it - am now flouting the rules with impunity. Unless they read this. or their own site! I think the 'catter could be improved a wee bit with a better choice of word here and there but by comparison with the BBC, who should know better, this is a breeze. three cheers for Max. |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: Jon Bartlett Date: 08 Jan 02 - 08:40 PM Yes, I am indeed the Vancouver (actually, New Westminster) BC Jon B. |
Subject: RE: Membership iterative loop From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 09 Jan 02 - 05:47 AM Jon, thanks again for the ride home from Steveston that night. |
