Subject: RE: Nuada come to St Albans From: treewind Date: 07 Mar 06 - 08:26 AM I think we'll have to be with you in spirit only this time - we'll be all travelled out having returned from a night in Huddersfield. Our local music session is as far as we'll want to go on the Sunday night. Another time, perhaps Anahata |

Subject: RE: Nuada come to St Albans From: Richard Bridge Date: 07 Mar 06 - 10:33 AM Go see them!!!!!! I heard them at Ely last year and the use of drones is stunning. The CD is in the player constantly and even modern death metal kids like the doomy effect. This is not simple Celtic, this is surreal. It is undoubtedly in the folk tradition but goes a lot further, looking backwards and forwards at the same time. |

Subject: RE: Nuada come to St Albans From: breezy Date: 13 Mar 06 - 05:46 AM much time effort and love have gone into their songs We demanded songs and got em I must acknowledge the talent of Ferris on what I describe as 'socially acceptable bagpipes', flutes, whistles and 'demi pipes' and now she sings. Ruths Hurdy gurdy blends well and the sound is secure on the riffs set down by Sam on bazouki. They are a reliable act and I'm sure we only scratched the surface with them last night They put on an enthralling set of 6 nimbers and the time flew by. Interestingly ending on 'waltzings for dreamers' They contrasted well with the other performers to contribute to a balance evenings programme |
