Smoking is now banned in public places. Government buildings (and their agencies) must qualify as public. Therefore.... does the law now prevent beagles etc, from lighting up in animal testing labs?

T rather think the law only applies to humans.

It could still be tricky, though. What about the humans working around the labs?

I imagine that humans working in the labs would have appropriate clothing and masks.

I didn't realise they were still testing tobacco in this way still. There doesn't seem to be any point to me.

Beagles are also banned. It's smoking in the workplace, and by definition beagles smoking for research are working dogs. Look it up. Section 433A.

I see, on a more serious note, the BBC news page quoting a figure that barmen in smoking-allowed bars were ingesting the equivalent of 35 cigarettes a night through secondhand smoking.

I suppose the barmen and Women will be upset at that, as they will have to buy their own now.

I say good riddance to the beagles.
Set of cheapskates.
Never bought their own cigs.
Always cadged someone else's.
Quack!
GtD.

Now they can stand out in the car park with the rest of the lab staff.
Quack!

My captors have got around the law by issuing me with a 25 foot long cigarette holder that reaches through the window. No chance of giving up for me!

The poor old beagles have been hanging around bars, smoking, since the hunting ban. None of them can prove they are over 18 so they cannot even get a drink. Poor buggers.

:D

One session pub near here went smoke-free years before the ban came into force in Scotland.

The landlord didn't smoke. He died of lung cancer, killed by his customers. The ban was his widow's idea.

I don't think she would find Villan's crack very funny.

Actually Jack, my original comment was sarcastic, becuase through no fault of their own they were probably hooked on smoking and without anybody smoking, they would have withdrawal symptoms. Such would be the impact I beleive.

Also I am 9 years clear of smoke related cancer.
