This is from Chris Metherell, step dancer, archivist of the Morris Ring, researcher & all-round good bloke:

Good Evening,

This may be a completely unnecessary mail. I hope it is.

The High Spen Blue Diamonds traditional rapper team has mislaid one of its members. George Wallace, who dances No 4, has been with the team for around 25 years. A few weeks ago he stopped appearing at practice. Without going into detail members of the team became so worried that telephone calls were not returned and that neighbours had not seen him for some time that the Police were informed. The Police were worried enough to break into his house (he lives alone). It was clear that he had not been there for several weeks.

We do not wish to encroach on George's privacy. We really, really hope that he has taken off somewhere and is just having a good time. But we are very concerned that something untoward has occured.

So, if anyone in the folk/rapper world has seen George recently could they let us know (off -list if appropriate) or if anyone actually knows where he is could they ask him to get in touch.

And it would be a kindness to spend a few seconds pasing this mail onto colleagues who are not on the MDDL. The more people who know the better.

Thank you all for your help.

Chris Metherell
Ring Archivist

Maybe the clones could amend the title to "George Wallace (UK sword dancer) missing ?" or something. Otherwise it's bound to confuse everyone (it'll get this thread a lot of hits, though).

He's in my thoughts, and I sure hope he turns up. Someone from the Ring please keep us posted -

George,
When my friend Thomas went missing the NYPD refused to break into his home. I understand the concern and hope all is well.
Mary

I remembered the case of Thomas, Mary, and it's for that reason I copied this here (from the BBC board). I don't know George, but then I don't have to.

George P, what do you think about also putting it in the UK.Music.Folk group? I couldn't see it there (though it would be a lot easier to search if the %$$£@!±§!! spammers would stop vomiting all over it). Should it be posted there too?

Yep. Will do (that is if I can get in - it seems to have a grudge against my password for some reason).

(just in case Bonnie needing a password when I've said there is no membership sounds a bit odd, uk.music.folk is an open unmoderated newsgroup and there is no such thing as membership. Membership and/or usernames and passwords may be required for the services used to access the newsgroup, eg. Google Groups, services provided by your ISP, etc)

I had to be a member of Google Groups to be allowed to post, though anyone can read the board. I have Gmail, and it's the same password etc. You can join Google Groups without having a Gmail account, however. Anyway, I managed to get in so the message is now posted.
