It is from 1942 and will have all the information on the authors as well. Subject: RE: Forever Flies The Red, White And Blue From: Banjer Date: 29 May 99 - 10:11 PM Yeah I know I got so excited that my cut and paste worked that I forgot the (shift comma /A shift period) doohikie. Please don't send me back to remedial HTML class, I'll be good, I promise! |
Subject: RE: Forever Flies The Red, White And Blue From: Joe Offer Date: 29 May 99 - 10:18 PM Well, durn, Banjer, I'm glad you posted the link and all, but I don't think that's the the song. I can hear the song in my head, but it's not coming to me. If I recall, that's the last line of the song, and there are two notes on "red." I wonder if Chitown can come back and give us some more. I'm thinking maybe the song is "It's a Grand Old Flag." -Joe Offer, off searching- |
Subject: RE: Forever Flies The Red, White And Blue From: Banjer Date: 29 May 99 - 10:34 PM This also is probably not what we're looking for but it is worth seeing on this Memorial Day celebration:Click here Don't have any idea if it was ever set to music or not, but intend to share it with folks at tommorrows ceremonies. |
Subject: Lyr Add: YOU'RE A GRAND OLD FLAG (George M. Cohan) From: Joe Offer Date: 29 May 99 - 10:39 PM Well, darn. It's not this one, either. YOU'RE A GRAND OLD FLAG George M. Cohan, 1906 You're a grand old flag, You're a high flying flag And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave. Ev'ry heart beats true 'neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old flag. You're a grand old flag, You're a high flying flag And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave. Ev'ry heart beats true 'neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old flag. |
